Did you know that Ireland’s highest marginal tax rate on wages is one of the highest in the 34 OECD countries at 52% (includes PRSI & USC and is 55% for self employed).

What is even more significant is the entry point to paying the highest rate, in Ireland when you earn over €32,800 you are paying tax at the highest rate, in the UK you have to be earning €183,285 before you enter the highest tax band, €186,749 in France, €259,103 in Germany and €301,163 in the United States.

Taxation is becoming a major disincentive to work, the Government should take account of this when considering any changes in the upcoming budget.
